Does your dog lack confidence?

Do you want to help your dog understand that the world is a safe place, and they don’t need to be frightened of life (or the vets….or the car)?

Then you’re in the right place!

Having owned a fearful dog myself, I know how sad it is to see your dog struggling with coping with elements of life.

And don’t get me started on trying to understand why on earth he was frightened of a football?! I felt hopeless.

I got to a point where I was at a complete loss of how to help him understand that the world was safe, and that we’d never let anything hurt him.

Now he’s never going to be the bravest dog in the world but he does have a hugely improved ability to cope!

I know the internet has all sorts of answers on how to fix your problems, and I know you’ve probably tried them all.

You’re probably feeling totally hopeless about ever improving the situation, but that’s where I come in.

Using my knowledge and experience, along with a kind and empathetic approach - I can help to support you getting your dog back on track.

But how?

Let’s work together to get you & your dog more confident!

Our programme for fearful/anxious dogs includes all the below elements to ensure you have everything you need to set you on the path to success.

  • An initial consultation to explore and determine the underlying emotions and factors contributing to your dogs behaviour.

  • Information gathering from both you & your vet prior to our first session, including analysis of this information so I have the full picture

  • Video analysis prior to our first session & throughout our time working together

  • A written training plan & behaviour report tailored to your individual dog so you know exactly what you need to do.

  • Two x 20 minute online catch up sessions

  • Three x 45 minute follow up sessions to ensure you’re on the right path and make any necessary tweaks

  • Direct e-mail support to answer any of your burning questions

  • Information and guidance from a qualified, ethical and knowledgable professional

  • Veterinary liasons & referrals where appropriate to ensure a joined up approach

  • Completion of insurance paperwork

  • Access to our private facebook group to meet others in a similar boat and share ideas and experiences

  • Peace of mind knowing that you’ve got all the help you need to get you back on course.

Investment; £695

N.B In many cases you are able to claim for behaviour work on your pet insurance.

In-person sessions are available in Tidworth, Amesbury, Andover, Salisbury, Stockbridge, Larkhill, Durrington, Bulford, Netheravon, Marlborough or within a 15 mile radius of Tidworth. Anything outside of this area will be conducted online unless arranged prior.

Sessions are to be used within 6 months of the start date unless otherwise agreed.

Optional upgrades are available if you would like a higher level of support than is offered in the programme. These include more follow up sessions, consults with vet behaviourists and more.

This is for you if…

  • Your dog shows signs of fear or anxiety around certain triggers (i.e. noises/vets/cars). This is not suitable for separation anxiety - please see here for help with that!

  • You want to help your dog understand that the world is safe!

  • You want to work with someone who is up to scratch, a qualified behaviourist and who truly cares about your dog

  • You want to work with someone who has been in your shoes. (I get it - it’s heartbreaking and frustrating!) but has made huge progress with many clients & their dogs.

  • You want to understand the why, and not just stick a plaster over the problem. Let’s dig deep!

Heather gave me fantastic advice on different noise phobia training and he has done so well thanks to her! He didn’t bat an ear to the fireworks for the first time ever this year!

INSURANCE

Due to my professional qualifications and accreditations (CAB, Full Membership of APBC and PACT), many insurance companies will cover my fees.

You should check your own pet insurance policy details to see if you can claim back some or all of the costs of working with me, if this is of interest to you.

Processing of your insurance forms is included with your programme.

Not sure if a full programme is for you? - then book a Power Hour Chat!

What is a Power Hour?

  • We’ll spend an hour on zoom to chat about the issues you’re having, and I’ll give you some tailored management and training techniques to suit your situation.

  • You’ll get an activity e-book with a plan of exercises and games to work through with your dog following our session, targeted at your dogs specific problem

  • If you decide to then book onto a programme, the cost of your power hour will be deducted from the cost of your chosen programme.

    Book your hour for £125

A Power Hour isn’t a substitute for a full behavioural programme, but it can be handy to get you started on the right track, or to help you see if you’d like to work with me.

Veterinary referral and pre-consultation forms will still be required.

FAQS

  • A Clinical Animal Behaviourist works on veterinary referral to help diagnose and resolve behavioural problems in animals. The full standard for a CAB can be seen here - https://abtc.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ABTC-Standard-Clinical-Animal-Behaviourist-November-2021.pdf

  • Yes! I do not normally need to see a problem to diagnose (infact it’s unethical of me to put your dog in that situation) so I can normally diagnose the problem just through our conversations and video footage.

  • In-person support can be arranged if you would prefer but availability is limited. A hybrid approach can also be done where suitable but we can discuss then when you enquire.

  • Unfortunately there are no guarantees in animal behaviour due to learning history, individual differences and also human behaviour.

I can, however, assure you that you are getting the most up to date and scientific advice and guide you through any struggles.

  • Yes!

All accredited animal behaviourists can only work on veterinary referral (it’s in our professional Code of Conduct).

Many behaviour problems ca be caused or worsened by medical problems so it really is important.

It’s a simple process though and I can guide you through it, or you can visit the ‘vets’ page on the site!

  • I use a science-based, kind and ethical approach to modifying behaviour.

  • If more sessions are needed at the end of our time together, we can discuss how to move forward together.

  • Often! My qualifcations and accreditations mean that often it’s possible to claim back some or all of my fees if your insurance covers behaviour.

The decision does lie ultimately with the insurers but in the majority of cases, there isn’t an issue.

  • Please pick the programme you think best matches your problem and we can discuss further when getting you booked in.

  • I’m an ABTC registered Animal Training Instructor and Clinical Animal Behaviourist. I hold a degree level qualification in Applied Animal Behaviour and have passed rigorous assessment processes in order to gain my CAB and ATI status through the APBC and PACT - showcasing both academic and practical skill.
